Outdoors 123 identifies outstanding outdoor opportunities for families. This is one of our favorites. Take a safe and spooky one mile walk along a candlelit trail and then enjoy toasting a marshmallow and hotdog over an open fire. The Friends of Governor Nelson State Park provides treats, hot dogs and a gently spooky setting. There is a shelter and picnic tables and several fire rings. This hike is open to the public.
Notes: We recommend getting here early, doing the one mile hike, and then enjoying the fire. Trails are marked with candles, but some children and adults may want to have a flashlight. Dress for the weather. Leave the costumes at home for this event.
